Anti-Cyberbullying Assemblies Come to KHMS

Are your kids on the internet? Facebook? Do they have a cell phone? How often do they text message? Do you ever wonder what they could possibly be doing with all of those minutes and texts? On September 14, 2010 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will attend grade level assemblies on Cyberbullying. Harter Middle School staff and students will be addressed by Sarah Migas, a member of Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s staff, on internet safety, cyberbullying, and ways to help victims. Assemblies will begin at approximately, 9:30 AM, 10:45 AM and 11:30 AM and last 45 minutes. Any parents, guardians, or community members that would like to attend may do so. Reminder to MS/HS Parents: There will not be an after-school practice or activity bus this year due to budget reductions. Parents will need to make transportation arrangements for their middle school and high school students to be picked up after athletic practices, after-school activities and after-school detentions.

Volleyball Tryouts Scheduled

Tryouts for the 7th and 8th Grade Girls Volleyball teams will be held on August 18 and 19 at the Harter Middle School Gymnasium. 8th Grade will go from 8:00-10:00 a.m. and 7th Grade will follow from 10:15- 12:15. In order to tryout, each participant must turn in a physical examination form and insurance waiver on or before the 18th of August. It is suggested that parents make a copy of the sports physical before turning it in to the school, since most clinics do not keep copies of these yearly physicals. These forms are available on the District website (www.kaneland.org). Select Harter Middle School and then Athletics and look on the right side of the page.
